James Maury royal license, 1808 Jan. 16.

The collection consists of a royal license signed by King George III of Great Britain to James Maury on January 16, 1808, which furnished protection for a cotton shipment from Georgia to Liverpool on the ship Georgia, James Pierce, master. The license also directs and requires commanders of ships of war and privateers not to molest or interrupt said vessel on its voyage. The document contains two impressions of the King's blind-embossed seal.
